LOCAL SPORTS 2-17-23

The Yankton Bucks and Gazelles basketball teams were in Tea last night as they both battled the Tea Area Titans.

History was made in the Bucks game as Drew Ryken broke the YHS record for three pointers made in a single season as he hit 6 threes on the night, with his final long ball putting the Bucks up 62 to 50 in the 4th quarter.

            Ryken led the Bucks in scoring with 22 points, as Yankton were victorious 77 to 68. During a post game interview with KYNT, Ryken talked about how the achievement wouldn’t be possible without his teammates.

The Gazelles fell in their matchup with the Titans 62 to 30. Claire Tereshinski led Yankton in scoring with 9 points, followed by Camryn Koletsky with 7.

Next up for both squads is a home double header tonight against Douglas inside the Summit Activities Center. The Gazelles play first at 6:00 with the Bucks to follow, pregame coverage will begin at 5:30 PM on KYNT and KYNTV. Bryce Ladwig will be on the call.

The Mount Marty Lancers women’s basketball team will close the book on their season tomorrow afternoon as they welcome the College of Saint Mary to Cimpl Arena. Tipoff for the Lancer’s season finale will be at 2:00 PM Saturday, with pregame coverage on KYNT and KYNTV beginning at 1:30. Tehl Tanner will be on the call.

The Mount Marty Lancers indoor track and field team are in Seward, Nebraska today for day one of the GPAC conference championships. Today’s events are set to begin at 2:00 PM, with day two of the action beginning at 9:00 AM tomorrow morning.

The Mount Marty Lancers baseball team is in Texas today for a pair of matchups with Tabor College and Southwestern Assemblies of God. The Lancers play Tabor in game one at 10:00 AM, with game two against Southwestern Assemblies of God set to begin at 12:45 PM.

The Lancers will remain in Texas after today’s games as they’ll meet both teams again tomorrow afternoon.
