The Mount Marty Lancers men’s and women’s basketball teams hosted Morningside on Saturday in a GPAC basketball double header inside Cimpl Arena. The Lancers would fall in both contests as the women’s game ended 84 to 59, while the men’s game saw a final score of 90 to 57.

Next up for the Lancers is a trip to North Dakota on Wednesday to take on Jamestown. The women will get the games started at 6:00 PM, with the men to follow. Coverage for both games between Mount Marty and Jamestown can be found on KYNT, beginning with the pregame show at 5:30 PM. Tehl Tanner will be on the call.

The Yankton Bucks and Gazelles each picked up victories on the basketball court last Friday over Sioux Falls Roosevelt. The Bucks won their matchup 58 to 47, while the Gazelles secured a 56 to 50 win, earning their first victory of the season.

The Gazelles are now off until their meeting with Brandon Valley on Thursday, while the Bucks will take the court tomorrow night as they welcome the #2 ranked Sioux Falls Lincoln to the Summit Activities Center. Coverage for tomorrow night’s game can be found on KYNT and KYNTV, as the pregame show begins at 6:30 PM with tipoff scheduled for 7:00. Bryce Ladwig will be on the call.

The Mount Marty Lancers indoor track and field team took part in the SDSU D2 Open on Saturday in Brookings, South Dakota. The Lancer men brought home a 4th place finish, while the women ended the event on the podium, in 3rd. The Lancers secured 36 season best performances during the events, as well as two Lancers setting new school records. Calli Davis won the 400 meter dash at the event, and now holds the Lancer record for the dash at 58.22 seconds, while Andrew Nanfito set the new high mark for MMU in the weight throw at 46-6.00. Next up for the Lancers is the Mount Marty Invitational & Multi-Event Competition, taking place on Friday and Saturday inside the Ruth Donohoe First Dakota Fieldhouse in Yankton. Events are set to begin at 2:00 PM on Friday, and 10:00 AM on Saturday.

The Yankton Gazelles Gymnastics squad return to action tonight as they host the O’Gorman Knights. The meet is set to take place at River City Gymnastics & Cheer in Yankton, with events scheduled to begin at 5:30 PM.

The Yankton Bucks and Gazelles wrestling teams each competed in separate events over the weekend.

The Gazelles took part in the Governor Wrestling Invite on Friday as almost 150 girls from 20 different schools took part in the event. Monica Massey and Jaclyn Kite each picked up two pinfall victories for the Gazelles, while Naveah Leonard would earn a 3rd place finish in her class, winning 4 of 5 matches on her way to the podium.

The Bucks were also active over the weekend as they were one of 12 teams involved in the River City Rumble in Chamberlain on Saturday. The Bucks took home an 8th place team finish, earning 76 points during the meet. Shayce Platt (2nd) and Dylan Sloan (1st) both earned podium finishes in their classes for Yankton. Next up for the Bucks and Gazelles is a duel with the governors in Pierre on Thursday.

The South Dakota Coyotes men’s and women’s basketball teams took to the court on Saturday for games against the Omaha Mavericks. The Coyotes would come out victorious in both affairs as the women took a 70 to 63 road victory over the Mavs, while the men would defeat Omaha 84 to 68 in Vermillion.

Next up for the USD women is a game tonight against the Denver Pioneers out in Colorado beginning at 7:00 PM, while the men will have a few days off before their trip to Western Illinois to take on the Leathernecks on Thursday.

The South Dakota State Jackrabbits men’s and women’s basketball teams both earned wins over the Denver Pioneers on Saturday. The Jackrabbit women would return from Denver with a 74 to 64 victory, while the men defeated the Pioneers in Frost Arena, 76 to 61. Next up for both squads is St. Thomas on Thursday, with the women’s game taking place in Brookings, while the men will play in St. Paul, Minnesota. Both games are set to begin at 7:00 PM Thursday night.
