LOCAL SPORTS 1-12-23

The Mount Marty Lancers mens and womens basketball teams took on Northwestern College last night in a double header at Cimpl Arena. KYNT Broadcaster Tehl Tanner broke down the action immediately following last night’s games.

            Coverage for Sunday’s contests between the Lancers and Dakota Wesleyan can be found on KYNT, with pregame at 1:30 PM. Tehl Tanner will be on the call.

            The Mount Marty Lancers inaugural track and field meet of 2023 will take place this weekend. The Lancers will host the Mount Marty Opener on Saturday January, 14th inside the Ruth Donohoe First Dakota Fieldhouse with the action set to begin at 12:00 PM.

            The (0-5) Yankton Gazelles return to the court tonight in basketball action as they host the (2-3) Watertown Arrows in the Summit Activities Center. Pregame Coverage will begin at 6:30 PM on KYNT and KYNTV, with tip-off set for 7:00. Bryce Ladwig will be on the call.

The (2-1)Yankton Bucks travel to Watertown tomorrow night to battle the (1-4) Watertown Arrows. Coverage for tomorrow night’s contest can also be found on KYNT and KYNTV, beginning with pregame at 6:30 PM and tipoff at 7:00. Bryce Ladwig will be on the call.

The Yankton Bucks and Gazelles wrestling teams are in action tonight as they travel to Brandon Valley to compete against Brandon Valley and Aberdeen Central in a triangular beginning at 5:00 PM.

In other wrestling news, congratulations to Yankton youth wrestler Winry Yaggie as she took first place in her class at AAU Winternationals in Omaha last weekend. Yaggie earned two pinfall victories on her way to the top spot.

The Yankton Gazelles gymnastics squad has an invitational set for tomorrow night in Huron, with events scheduled to begin at 5:30 PM. This event was scheduled to replace a meet from December 8th that was canceled due to inclement weather

South Dakota and South Dakota State are geared up to renew their rivalry this weekend as their mens and womens teams basketball teams will take the court on Saturday. The Jackrabbit women will look to remain atop the Summit League standings as they host the Coyotes in Frost arena at 1:00 PM Saturday afternoon. The USD men will welcome an SDSU squad to the Sanford Coyote Sports Center for a 6:00 PM tip Saturday evening in a battle between two teams currently tied for 3rd in the conference.
