  • The first pitch of the 2022 American Legion Senior Baseball Tournament will be thrown tomorrow from the mound at Fitzgerald Stadium in Rapid City. The double-elimination tournament runs through Sunday and will feature four excellent day one matchups.

  • Women’s basketball standout Chloe Lamb has been selected as The Summit League’s nominee for the 2022 NCAA Woman of the Year. Lamb is one of 151 college athletes who have advanced as conference-level nominees and one of 53 at the NCAA Division I level. There were a total of 577 institutional-level nominees this year across the three divisions. Lamb played in four-straight NCAA Tournaments for the Coyotes and was a member of two squads that finished in the final national Top 25 poll of the season. South Dakota won three Summit League regular season titles (2018, 2020, 2022) and three Summit tournament titles (2020, 2021, 2022) in her career. USD boasted a 135-27 (.833) record during her career. She also set South Dakota program records for career games played (162) and consecutive games played (162), never missing a single game in five seasons. She also ranks third in career scoring (1,884), second for career 3-pointers made (253) and seventh for career steals (196) in USD history.
  • South Dakota head swimming and diving coach Jason Mahowald has announced the 2022-23 schedule featuring three meets inside the Midco Aquatic Center in Sioux Falls and trips to Power Five schools Nebraska, Kansas and Iowa State. USD will host the Coyote Invite February 4th-5th to close out the regular season before the four-day Summit League Championships February 22nd-25th in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
  • Yankton Fury Fire (18U) and Yankton Fury Red (18U) Softball clubs are competing in the Northern American Fastpitch Association National Tournament in the Twin Cities Thursday through Sunday. The two Yankton clubs are amongst 70 other teams competing. Bracket play on the 30th follows two days of pool play. Fury Red begins play at 8am versus Badger Blitz, while Fury Fire takes on the Minnesota Snocatz at 945am.
