  • The playoffs are set for South Dakota Legion Baseball, as the top eight Class A seeds prepare to host the next eight in a best of three play-in-series, with the winner advancing to the state tournament July 27th-July 31st in Rapid City. The play-in-series will take place Friday and Saturday at these sites:

#4 Brandon Valley hosts #13 Spearfish

#2 Rapid City Post 22 receives a bye with an automatic state qualifier (host)

You can catch the Yankton on KYNT and KYNTV with Bryce Ladwig, beginning this Friday, pregame 530pm, first pitch 6pm from Harrisburg. Yankton concluded the regular season with a 23-15 overall, and an 11-10 Class A record. Yankton last competed in the state tournament in 2019.

  • The South Dakota volleyball team received the American Volleyball Coaches Association Team Academic Award for the 2021-22 season. South Dakota is one of 212 Division I schools to make the list and one of 1,208 total teams to be honored. The award honors collegiate and high school volleyball teams that displayed excellence in the classroom during the school year by maintaining a 3.30 cumulative team GPA on a 4.0 scale or a 4.10 cumulative team GPA on a 5.0 scale. This marks the eighth-straight year that the Coyotes have earned the honor and the ninth recognition overall. The Coyotes sported a 3.64 team GPA during the season, which helped boost them into the top 20 percent of Division I schools.
