LOCAL SPORTS REPORT 6-2-22

  • The South Dakota High School Baseball season concluded in extra inning fashion last night, with Dell Rapids securing their second straight Class B with an 11-5 victory over Dakota Valley at Sioux Falls Stadium in 11 innings. The Class A season wrapped up this past Saturday, with Sioux Falls Lincoln securing their first title since 2014 with a 6-1 victory over Mitchell.
  • South Central League Baseball action resumes tonight, with the (2-1) Yankton Tappers hosting (2-0) Freeman at Riverside Field. First pitch set for 730pm. In other SCL action, (1-2) Tabor travels to (0-3) Menno, and (1-1) Wynot makes a trip to (2-0) Lesterville. An early look at the SCL standings, all seven teams are within 2.5 games of each other, with Lesterville in the #1 spot, right in front of Yankton by 0.5 games.
  • Yankton Legion opened up their season with a two-game sweep over Huron Tuesday night, and continue their long season opening homestand by hosting one of three sites in the Kyle Mueller Classic Friday through Sunday. Yankton’s opening game of the classic is an inter-state clash with Hartington. KYNT and KYNTV’s Bryce Ladwig has the coverage beginning with a 10am pregame, 1030am first pitch.
  • The rosters have been set for the 2022 South Dakota High School All-Star Football Game on the 11th in the Dakota Dome. The two teams (Red & Blue) include a mixture of all seven football classes in the state. Three Yankton Bucks players and one coach represent the red team. The players are Bodie Rutledge, Cameron Zahrbock, and Max Raab, and Bucks Head Coach Brady Muth acts as an assistant coach. Kickoff is set for 1pm, and tickets are on sale now.
