  • The new Yankton Legion Baseball season begins today, as Yankton hosts Huron in a double-header at Riverside Field. You can catch the action live with KYNT Sports Director and the voice of Yankton Baseball, Bryce Ladwig. Pregame 430pm, first pitch 5pm.
  • The Class B High School Baseball State Tournament began yesterday at Sioux Falls Stadium, and defending champion Dell Rapids took a 3-1 victory over Parkston in the quarterfinals. The other three quarterfinal games scheduled for yesterday were pushed to today due to poor weather conditions.
  • For the second year in a row, South Dakota State’s football season opener will be played before a national television audience. The Jackrabbits’ September 3rd game at Iowa will be televised on FS1. Kickoff for the game at Kinnick Stadium in Iowa City, Iowa, is set for 11 am. A limited number of tickets in the SDSU allotment are available for purchase through the Jackrabbit Ticket Office until June 23. SDSU opened the 2021 season with a 42-23 victory at Colorado State, a game that also was televised on FS1. The Jackrabbits went on to post an 11-4 record and advanced to the Football Championship Subdivision national semifinals for the fourth time in five seasons.
  • The beginning of the transformation of Frost Arena into First Bank & Trust Arena in Brookings will be marked with a ceremonial groundbreaking on Thursday. The event, which is open to the public, begins at 4 pm on the east side of Frost Arena. Frost Arena has served as the home of Jackrabbit basketball, volleyball and wrestling since opening in February 1973.
  • After a 19-4 victory at home versus Menno on Sunday, the Tappers (2-1) prepare for another South-Central League matchup Thursday versus Freeman (2-1) at Riverside Field. First pitch set for 730pm. In other SCL action on Thursday, Tabor (1-2) visits Menno (0-3), and Wynot (1-1) travels to Lesterville (2-0).
