LOCAL SPORTS REPORT 4-19-22

  • Yankton Bucks Tennis returns to action and hosts a triangular vs Sioux Falls Washington and Vermillion today at the NFAA Archery Center today beginning at 11am.
  • The track and field meet originally scheduled in Brandon Valley today has been cancelled due to forecasted inclement weather. A rescheduled date has not been determined.
  • South Dakota State’s Rozelyn Carrillo has been named the Softball Summit League Player of the Week by the conference office. Carrillo led the Jackrabbits to a 3-1 week and 3-0 series sweep of Kansas City over the weekend. The sophomore tallied six hits, six runs and five RBIs in the KC series with three extra-base hits – two doubles and a home run. In SDSU’s first game with the Roos Saturday, Carrillo went 2-for-2 and drew two walks while driving in one run. On Saturday, Carrillo scored the final run of both walk-off wins. She went 3-for-4 in game one and then hit a walk-off homer in the eighth inning of game two. Carrillo hit a grand slam in the Jackrabbits’ loss at Minnesota midweek. Carrillo is on a 16-game hit streak and is averaging .397 overall and .500 in conference games. This is the third weekly accolade of Carrillo’s career and her second of the season.
