Local Sports Report 12-27-21

  • The Yankton Bucks Basketball team travels to Mitchell tomorrow afternoon to participate in the Hoop City Classic at the Corn Palace. They are facing off in a rematch against Campbell County HS out of Gillette, WY. Campbell County was the runner up in the Class 4-A State Championship in Wyoming last season, the highest class in the state. Almost a year to this day, the Bucks defeated Campbell County HS at the Summit Activities Center 77-64. Bryce Ladwig has the call on KYNT and KYNTV, with pregame beginning at 1pm, tipoff at 130.
  • South Dakota Women’s Basketball resumes action this Thursday, hosting North Dakota inside the Sanford Coyote Sports Center at 7 pm. South Dakota Men’s Basketball also returns to the court Thursday, against North Dakota in Grand Forks.
  • South Dakota State Women’s Basketball returns to Brookings to host North Dakota State Thursday at 7 pm at Frost Arena. South Dakota State men’s basketball will be idle until Thursday as well, when they play at North Dakota State. That game is part of a two-contest road trip to North Dakota.
  • The Mount Marty Men’s basketball season will continue out of the holiday break tomorrow with an exhibition game at Drake University. The Lancers entered the holiday break with a win over Waldorf University, pushing their overall record to 4-13. (Game not on KYNT, Exhibition)
  • The Lancer women will return to the Cimpl arena on Thursday, December 30th for a matchup with Dakota Wesleyan University. The Lancers enter the contest with a 2-12 overall record. The game starts at 6 p.m. with all coverage on KYNT and KYNTV.
  • Then on New Year’s Day, both Lancer basketball teams will be in the Cimpl arena for two games with Dordt University. The women will play first at 2 p.m. with the men’s contest immediately following.
