LOCAL SPORTS WRAP 9-30-21

  • Mount Marty hosted Northwestern College in GPAC Soccer Men’s and Women’s double-header last night at Crane-Youngworth Field. The women fell short 5-0 to the Red Raiders. The Lancer men also fell short to Northwestern yesterday, but in true heartbreaking fashion, falling in double overtime 3-2. The Lancer men are now 3-4-1 on the season. The Lancer women, now (1-7), and the Lancer men (3-4-1) will travel to Sioux Center, IA to square off with Dordt University on October 6th starting at 6:00 PM.
  • Yankton Bucks Varsity Golf travels to Harrisburg today for a dual with the Tigers at Spring Creek Country Club, this is the last regular season competition for the Bucks before the State Tournament being held on October 4th and 5th in Huron. Tee off at 11am.
  • Coming off a 4-set loss to Sioux Falls Jefferson Tuesday night, the Gazelles (4-10) return home to the Summit Activities Center to square off against Class A Vermillion tonight in varsity volleyball action. First serve at 7pm.
  • Bucks football is back on the road this Friday, as they travel north to ESD rival Mitchell. Yankton (2-3), and Mitchell (1-4) have had some barn burning battles on the gridiron this season and this could be another.
