Local Sports Wrap 9-23-21

  • The Lancer Volleyball squad fell short to Concordia in Women’s GPAC Volleyball last night in three straight sets 16-25, 19-25, 14-25. The Lancers are now 0-6 in GPAC play and travel to #1 ranked Midland on Saturday for another GPAC clash.

 

  • Yankton Cross Country plays host to Gayville-Volin, Mitchell, Norfolk, Pierce, Sioux City Bishop Heelan, and Vermillion today for a varsity invitational at Fox Run Golf Course. Competition is set to begin at 415pm.

 

  • Gazelles tennis travels to Harrisburg today for a varsity triangular with the host Tigers and Sioux Falls Washington Warriors. The Gazelles open serve at 11am vs Harrisburg, and Sioux Falls Washington immediately following.

 

  • Bucks football continues their homestand Friday, hosting four-time Class 11-AA champion Pierre for Yankton’s Homecoming, Pioneer Days.   • The Lancers (0-3) Football program finally returns home to Crane-Youngworth Field this Saturday as they host GPAC foe (0-3) Briar Cliff University.   • The turf at Crane-Youngworth won’t be given a chance to rest all of Saturday, as The 4-5-2 Gazelles, and the 9-1-1 Bucks soccer teams are gearing up to host ESD rival Aberdeen this Saturday following the Lancers football game.
