Local Sports Wrap 9-22-21

  • Yankton Bucks Golf was able to play the Watertown’s Municipal Cattail Golf the same week the course will host the ESD Meet. The Bucks finished 6th amongst 13 teams in the Watertown Invite with a 339 score. Host Watertown won the event, posting a 299. Watertown’s own, Kaden Rylance recorded the lowest individual score, shooting 5 under par. The top Bucks golfer on the day was Dawson Vellek, who notched an 80. The Bucks next competition is the ESD meet this Saturday, at the same course.

 

  • For the second time this month, the Yankton Gazelles soccer squad didn’t win, or lose their varsity contest, but tied. The Gazelles and Lady Govs settled with a 0-0 score, while the Bucks cruised past the Govs 5-0. The Gazelles, now 4-5-2, and the Bucks, now 9-1-1 both host their final regular season home game of the season this Saturday at Crane-Youngworth Field, with the Bucks playing first at 5pm, the Gazelles immediately following.

 

  • Gazelles Volleyball went toe to toe with Sioux Falls Lincoln, the #3 team in Class AA, but fell short 25-18, 25-22, 26-24 in varsity action yesterday evening in Sioux Falls. The Gazelles, now 4-9, return to Sioux Falls Tuesday for its first ever clash with new Class AA school, Sioux Falls Jefferson. First serve set for 7pm.

 

  • Yankton Cheer and Dance competed in Huron yesterday. The competitive cheer team place 4th with a 202.5 score, the competitive dance team finished 3rd with a 255.5. Both teams now wait to compete in Harrisburg on the 25th.
