Local Sports Wrap 9-8-21

  • Offense was hard to come by Tuesday night for both the Yankton Bucks and Gazelles Soccer squads, as they were both shut out by visiting ESD foe, Brandon Valley. The Gazelles played the first game of the double-header and fell 3-0, while the Bucks played the nightcap and came up on the short end of a 1-0 score. Both teams don’t need to wait long to shake off the losses however, as they each play Thursday night at Crane-Youngworth Field vs another ESD opponent, Brookings. You can catch the action live on KYNT radio and KYNTV. Bucks (4-1-1) pregame begins at 330pm with KYNT sports director Bryce Ladwig, and play-by-play sportscaster, Josh Boelter, and the Gazelles (2-4) matchup will take place immediately after.

 

  • Gazelles volleyball returned to the Summit Activities Center last night as Sioux Falls Roosevelt came to town. The Gazelles (3-6) won the first set 25-16, but lost three consecutive to take the loss. The Gazelles now wait to host Brandon Valley tomorrow for a 7pm first serve.

 

  • Doane University comes to Cimpl Arena tonight for GPAC Volleyball action vs the Lancers. Mount Marty (4-3) is searching for their first GPAC victory of the season, and you can catch the action live on KYNT radio as well as KYNTV platforms with play-by-play broadcaster Tehl Tanner. Pregame at 7pm, first serve 730pm.

 

  • The SD Football Media Poll was Released Yesterday, and the Bucks are feeling the negative effects of its loss in Aberdeen last Friday, falling from a #1 tie to #4 in this week’s Class AA poll. Tea Area now takes sole possession of 1st place in the AA poll. Pierre moved up from #3 to #2 this week. Aberdeen Central wasn’t listed in last weeks poll, but is now in 3rd. Watertown dropped from 5 to 4 this week.

 

  • Tomorrow marks the one and only home invite for Yankton Competitive Cheer & Dance. The invite is held at the Summit Activities Center and begins at 5pm. Fans are encouraged to come and support both teams!

 

  • Don’t eat too big of a breakfast today, Augustana Football Head Coach Jerry Olszewski will be speaking at the Quarterback Club at Yankton’s Jo Deans restaurant. Bring $10 for a buffet meal if you wish to eat, and listen to some football talk. Quarterback Club begins at 12pm.
