Morning Sports Report 8-24-21

  • The Gazelles Volleyball squad begin their season campaign tonight at the Summit Activities Center, hosting Class AA power Sioux Falls O’Gorman. Gazelles head coach Chelsea Law says the team is looking to its senior leadership to deliver the competitive drive on the floor.

Law knows that continuity is crucial to the teams success, and that her being the 3rd head coach in three years will add difficulty in accomplishing that. However, Law also says her being on staff a season ago will help bridge that obstacle.

The Gazelles pregame begins tonight at 630pm on KYNT and KYNTV with sports director Bryce Ladwig.

  • Bucks golf will take their swing today at home vs Brandon Valley in a varsity dual at Fox Run Golf Course. Tee time is set for 2pm.

  • The media polls were released for both South Dakota High School Football and Volleyball yesterday evening. The Yankton Bucks football team landed in the third spot in the AA poll, behind 4-time defending state champion Pierre, and last years state runner up, Brookings. In Volleyball, the Gazelles did not receive any voting points, but are hosting the top team in the poll, Sioux Falls O’Gorman tonight.

  • The Yankton Bucks football squad are gearing up for another run at the state title this season, but must face visiting Huron in the seasons first game this Friday. KYNT and KYNTV have the action covered from pregame to the final whistle. Pregame coverage begins at 630pm with color analyst Jacob Wuertz (Wertz) and the voice of Bucks football, Bryce Ladwig.
