Post 12 Lights up Mitchell

Yankton Post 12 erupted for nine runs at a rainy Riverside Field en-route to a 9-3 victory over Mitchell Post 18 yesterday evening. Yankton’s nine runs came off the bats of five different players, most notably Rugby Ryken, who went 2-2 at the plate, scoring and knocking in a pair of runs, as well as collecting two walks. The spark that ignited Yankton’s offense came from left-handed speedster Cody Oswald, who lifted a 2nd inning full count pitch well past the fence in right center.

Drew Ryken continued his dominant pitching last night, blanking Mitchell through six innings, no hitting them through four innings, and tallying seven strikeouts, securing his 4th victory on the mound, which leads the team this season. Coach Drew Lawrence was pleased with his teams outing.

Lawrence is now excited to make the trek east to the Twin Cities for the annual Gopher Classic, a tournament of 96 legion teams. He says it’s an experience that Post 12 has enjoyed for years.

Yankton now plays their first of five games at the Classic this Friday, with the first pitch against North Saint Paul at 9am.
