The Yankton Gazelles sit in eighth place after the first day of the Class Double-A girls golf state tournament. Sioux Falls O’Gorman leads the pack with a 309 total with Mitchell second at 330 and the Gazelles shot a 356 on Monday. Halle Stephenson of Yankton carded an 80 yesterday and is tied for 10th place, while Jillian Eidsness had an 88 and is tied for 26th. The tournament concludes today at Baker Crossing in Sioux Falls.
In the Class A girls golf tourney at Spearfish, Maiya Muller of ‘Beresford and Mount Marty recruit Kelsey Heath of Sisseton share the lead after first-round scores of 75. Sioux Falls Christian leads the standings at 352, while Vermillion is fifth with a 404 total entering into today’s final round.
