Bucks Baseball Falls Short in Season Opener

The Yankton Bucks varsity baseball squad fell short 13-1 in their season opener to the Vermillion Tanagers yesterday evening at Riverside Field. The Bucks watched the game slip away early and couldn’t recover as they struggled to put runs on the board and had a tough time defensively containing the Tanagers, who notched twelve hits to Yankton’s four. The lone run for the Bucks came off a single from Landon Loecker (Lecker) in the bottom of the sixth inning. Clayton Sorensen was the winning pitcher for Vermillion, tallying three strikeouts and zero hits in three innings, while Tristan Redman took the loss for Yankton, allowing six hits and six runs in three innings. The Bucks begin Class A play today vs Brookings at Riverside Field for a double header matchup beginning at noon.
