USD Women Go For SL Title Today; Coyote and Jacks Men Both Lose in Semis Monday Night

South Dakota’s two Division One schools both lost in close semifinal games last night in the Summit League Men’s Basketball Tournament in Sioux Falls.

North Dakota State rallied from nine points down with seven minutes to play and beat the USD Coyotes 79-75 late Monday night.  Stanley Umude paced the Coyotes with 23 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists as they finished with a 14 and 11 season record.  In the first semifinal Monday at the Sanford Pentagon, Oral Roberts scored on a tip-in right before the final horn to upset top-seed South Dakota State 90-88.

Yesterday afternoon the USD women’s basketball team shot 52 percent from the floor and routed North Dakota State 81-55 in a semifinal game.  The second-seed Coyotes will face eighth-seed Omaha in today’s Summit League title game at 1:00 in the Pentagon.  The winner gets an automatic bid to the NCAA Women’s National Tournament.
