USD Men and SDSU Women Get Victories on Friday

The South Dakota men’s basketball team downed South Dakota State 64-56 Friday night in Brookings.  A-J Plitzuweit led the Coyotes with 19 points and 5 assists as they won for the first time in their last 14 games at Frost Arena.  The USD victory also snapped a 29-game home winning streak for South Dakota State.

In the women’s game, SDSU rolled past South Dakota 64-45 Friday in Brookings.  Myah Selland led the Jacks with 17 points and 9 assists as they broke the Coyotes 24-game winning streak in the Summit League.  The Jacks and Coyotes face each other again Saturday in a doubleheader in Brookings starting at 5 pm.

The Summit League has named South Dakota State senior Myah Selland as their January Women’s Athlete of the Month.  Selland averaged 19 points, 8 rebounds, and 4 assists per game and shot 51 percent from the field for the Jackrabbits.
