MMU Men Clinch GPAC Playoffs as Billings Sets Career Record

The Mount Marty men’s basketball team hit 10 of their first 11 shots and raced out to a 32-8 lead midway through the first half at Hastings last night on their way to an 82-67 victory over the Broncos.  The win clinched a GPAC post-season playoff berth for the Lancers as the eighth seed.  Mount Marty senior Jailen Billings sank all three of his three-point attempts and became the career leader for the Lancers with 211 three-point baskets.  Billings led Mount Marty with 21 points, while Elijah Pappas added 13 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists.

The Mount Marty women’s squad made just one basket in the first 12 minutes and lost by a 55-40 margin at Hastings on Wednesday.  Kayla Jacobsen topped the Lancers with 11 points as they connected on just 23 percent of their field goal attempts.  Mount Marty continues their GPAC schedule with a doubleheader at Northwestern on Saturday afternoon.
