MMU Men Win By One, Women Lose By Six at Midland

The Mount Marty men’s basketball team snapped their eight-game losing streak with a thrilling 79-78 victory at Midland University last night.  Tyrell Harper led the Lancers with 19 points and 10 rebounds, while the sophomore guard duo of Kade Stearns and Luke Ronsiek totaled 25 points and hit a combined 7 of 12 three-point shots last night.  Mount Marty is 5-12 in the G-PAC and stands in eighth place with a two-game edge over ninth-place Doane with three games left.

The Mount Marty University women’s basketball team came within one point on seven possessions in the second half last night before dropping a 70-64 decision at Midland.  Senior Karlee McKinney topped the Lancers with 17 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists and in the process passed the one-thousand point level in her Mount Marty career.  Senior Sarah Castaneda chipped in 15 points off the bench.  The Lancers are 2-15 in the conference with five games left.

Mount Marty will host Morningside Saturday afternoon in the final home G-PAC doubleheader of the season at the Cimpl Arena.
