Rural Economy in the Region is Improving

A new monthly survey of bankers suggests the economy is improving in rural parts of ten Plains and Western states, including South Dakota and Nebraska.  Creighton University economist Ernie Goss said the region still has about 95,000 fewer jobs than it did before the pandemic.

The overall index for the region improved to 51.6 in the month of December, up from a 46.8 score in November.
