Yankton County reported 62 new positive tests of COVID-19 over the weekend, but the number of active cases dropped to 401. There have now been over 15-hundred positive tests of the virus in Yankton County since the pandemic began.
The South Dakota Department of Health confirmed 78 additional deaths this weekend from the virus, and the death toll in the state is up to 819. South Dakota has reported at least 30 deaths from COVID-19 for five consecutive days. Three of the fatalities this weekend were from Union and Charles Mix Counties, two were in Hutchinson County and one was in Bon Homme County. The number of active cases of the virus dropped by nearly ten percent this weekend down to 16,897. The number of hospitalizations in South Dakota is 577, which was steady over the past two days.
The state of Nebraska confirmed 12 deaths linked to the coronavirus over the weekend and the death toll stands at 909 overall. There are 976 people currently hospitalized with COVID-19 in the state of Nebraska.
