Yankton municipal government is moving forward with an initiative called Be Yankton aimed at helping people address the emotional and mental toll that the combination of winter weather and the COVID 19 pandemic can potentially take on the community.
Yankton Mayor Nathan Johnson says it’s important to provide people with the opportunity to come together as a community.
Johnson says events such as the Halloween fireworks display gives people the opportunity to come together safely while sharing a sense of community.
Johnson says the Holiday Festival of Lights early next month is another event that people can participate in.
Johnson says with the increase in COVID 19 cases throughout the region, wearing facemasks while in public and taking other precautions against spreading the coronavirus are more important than ever.
