The BNSF Railway is upgrading rail in several locations between Vermillion and Lesterville.
According to the South Dakota Department of Transportation, once the upgrades are complete, train speeds in those areas will go from 10 mph to 25 mph.
The SD DOT is reporting that the change in speed will take effect December 1st.
