Three standout athletes and a state champion head coach will be inducted into the Yankton High School Athletic Hall of Fame tonight at YHS.
This year’s inductees are Chloe (Cornemann) Rotert (Gazelles Basketball), Mariah (Hofer) Weber (Gazelles Cross Country), Colton Iverson (Bucks Basketball), and Arlin Likness (Bucks Football).
The induction ceremony will be held at the YHS Commons tonight at 5:00 PM, alongside the YHS Fine Arts Hall of Fame.
Mount Marty Women’s Soccer improved to 2-0 in GPAC play last night, defeating the College of Saint Mary 4-2.
Julianne Donnelly had a hand in all four goals for the Lancers, ending her night with a goal and 3 assists. Hailey Tinsley, Rhyli Grim, and Addison Altweis added a goal each in the victory.
The Lancers will have their first home GPAC match on Saturday, hosting Northwestern at Crane-Youngworth Field.
Mount Marty Volleyball was swept by the College of Saint Mary last night, 25-12, 25-21, and 25-17 in GPAC play.
Annabella Suljuzovic led the Lancers with 9 kills, followed by 7 from Jaya Wachholtz.
The Lancers are now 10-11 on the year, 0-5 in GPAC play. They will travel to Forest City, Iowa, on Saturday to take on Waldorf.
Yankton Gazelles Tennis wraps up their regular season today with a rescheduled triangular against Harrisburg and Sioux Falls Washington.
The triangular was originally scheduled for Monday but was postponed due to rain. The event will also be held indoors at Huether Family Match Pointe in Sioux Falls.
The Gazelles will face Harrisburg first at 9:00 AM, before taking on Sioux Falls Washington at 11:30 AM.
Yankton Bucks and Gazelles Cross Country are scheduled to host their home meet this afternoon at Fox Run Golf Course in Yankton.
Both Yankton squads are coming off impressive finishes at the Norfolk Invite. The Gazelles placed 2nd behind top five finishes from Nora Youmans (1st), Avery Wuestewald (3rd), and Abby Johanneson (5th). The Bucks tallied a 4th place team finish, with Isaac Larrington (8th) and Luke Feimer (9th) placing inside the top ten.
Races are scheduled to begin at 4:15 PM.
The Yankton Bucks will cap off Homecoming Week tomorrow night, as they host the Watertown Arrows at Crane-Youngworth Field.
The Bucks are 3-1 on the year while the Arrows are 2-2. Yankton is coming off a 14-7 win over Huron last week, while the Arrows look to bounce back from back-to-back losses to Tea Area, 28-21, and Pierre, 55-14.

The Cedar Catholic Trojans host the Norfolk Catholic Knights tomorrow afternoon at the Hartington Community Complex.
The Trojans have been dominant through the first four weeks of the season, winning all four games by an average of 39.3 points per game.

The Hartington-Newcastle Wildcats look to remain undefeated tomorrow, as they host Elkhorn Valley in Hartington.
The Wildcats are 4-0 to start their 2026 season, led by a high-flying offense that averages 53 points and over 400 yards per game.
