The Mount Marty Lancers fell in straight sets to the #2 nationally ranked Concordia Bulldogs last night in their GPAC volleyball matchup.
All three sets were decided by six points or fewer, with the Bulldogs winning 25-19, 26-24, and 25-21.
Caitlin Guenther led the Lancer attack with 10 kills in the loss. Brianna Even (13) and Maycee Williams (11) combined for 24 assists for Mount Marty.
The Lancers are back in action on Saturday for a pair of matches. They will host Haskell Indian Nations first at 1:00 PM, before taking on York at 5:00.
Yankton Gazelles Volleyball travels to Vermillion tonight for an inter-class matchup with the Tanagers.
Yankton is currently ranked 12th in Class AA with a 3-6 overall record. The Tanagers are 9-2 on the year, ranked 7th in Class A.
First serve from Vermillion High School is scheduled for 6:45 PM Thursday evening.
Yankton Gazelles Tennis will host their final home match of the regular season tonight, taking on Sioux Falls Christian.
The Gazelles are 6-11 in duels this season, coming off a pair of losses to Mitchell and Sioux Falls Lincoln in their triangular on Tuesday.
Matches between the Gazelles and Chargers are scheduled to begin at 4:00 PM this afternoon at the YHS Tennis Courts.
Yankton Bucks and Gazelles Soccer will host Pierre tomorrow night in a Class AA doubleheader.
The Governors and Gazelles are two of the top-teams in Class AA on the girls side, with Pierre ranked 3rd and Yankton 4th in the standings.
The Bucks and Governors are both looking to secure a spot in the postseason on the boys side, with Yankton 14th and Pierre 15th heading into their final stretch of matches.
The girls are scheduled to play first at 5:00 PM with the Bucks to follow.
Yankton Bucks and Gazelles Cross Country will be in Norfolk, Nebraska, tomorrow for an invitational.
The Gazelles placed 1st at their last competition, led by a 1-2 finish for Nora Youmans and Avery Wuestewald. The Bucks placed 3rd last time out, paced by Isaac Larrington and Isaac Paulson, who finished 8th and 9th.
The invite will be held at Skyview Lake, with races scheduled to begin at 10:00 AM Friday morning.
Yankton Bucks Golf is back in action tomorrow morning for an Invitational hosted by the Mitchell Kernels.
The Bucks have been off the course for a week, after Monday’s Bill Scholten Invite in Brookings was canceled.
Friday’s competition will be held at Lakeview Municipal Golf Course. Tee time is scheduled for 10:30 AM.
Yankton Bucks Football travels to Huron tomorrow afternoon for a matchup between two of the top-five teams in the latest 11AA polls.
The Bucks enter week four of their season ranked 3rd in the latest poll, while the Tigers round out the top-five in 5th.
Kickoff from Tiger Stadium is currently scheduled for 4:30 PM tomorrow afternoon. Pregame coverage on KYNT and KYNTV begins at 3:30 with Brayden Butler and Josh Boelter on the call.
