The Yankton Police Department is reporting that they responded to an apartment in the 1900 block of Locust Street Wednesday morning after a call reported a neighbor calling out for help.
While on scene, officers heard what they believed to be a single gunshot from inside the apartment, followed by a male voice calling for help.
Yankton Police Chief, Jason Foote, says officers developed a coordinated entry plan and made entry into the apartment. A male subject was located inside and taken into custody without further incident. No other occupants were located inside.
Robert Burgel was arrested and charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance. Foote says the case remains under investigation. There is no threat to the public.
