The Yankton Bucks and Gazelles split their Class AA Soccer doubleheader against the Watertown Arrows last night.

The Gazelles claimed a 1-0 victory in the opening game. Iyana Becker was able to score off a corner kick from Lucy Johnson to secure the win. Game two saw the Bucks fall 2-0 to the Arrows.

Yankton will be on the road for the first time in over two weeks on Tuesday, as they take on the Mitchell Kernels in Mitchell.

Yankton Gazelles Volleyball fell to the Aberdeen Central Golden Eagles last night in a three-set sweep in Class AA action.

The Gazelles dropped a close set one 25-21, before the Golden Eagles were able to pull away in the final two sets 25-17 and 25-9.

The Gazelles are on the road against O’Gorman for their next match on September 8th.

The Hartington-Newcastle Wildcats shut out the Homer Knights last night, 36-0 in their home opener.

All 36 points for the Wildcats came in the first half, as after the halftime break the game was called due to a forfeit.

The 2-0 Wildcats are on the road next Friday night, taking on the Bears of Laurel-Concord-Coleridge.

Yankton Bucks Football hosts the Pierre Governors tonight in their home opener at Crane-Youngworth Field.

Yankton and Pierre enter as the top-2 teams in the 11AA media polls after dominant wins in week one. Friday’s matchup is a rematch of last year’s state championship.

Yankton High School and Mount Marty University will both compete in Sioux Falls tonight at the Augustana Twilight Meet.

Today’s event will be the first of the season for the Lancers. The women’s race begins at 8:30 PM with the men’s race scheduled for 9:00.

The Bucks and Gazelles will compete for the second time this season. Races are scheduled to begin at 6:00 PM.

Yankton Gazelles Tennis will travel to Mitchell this morning for a varsity triangular at Hitchcock Park.

Times have been changed for the event due to the forecasted high temperatures. Yankton will now face Sioux Falls Jefferson at 8:30 AM and Spearfish at 11:30 AM.

The Cedar Catholic Trojans look to improve to 2-0 tonight, as they host the Schuyler Warriors.

The Trojans defeated Scotus last week 34-10 in their season opener. Quarterback Grady Haberer threw for 189 yards and 4 touchdowns in the win.

The Mount Marty Lancers host Briar Cliff tomorrow night in battle for the Catholic Cup at Crane-Youngworth Field.

The South Dakota Coyotes hit the road for the first time this season tomorrow, taking on Northern Colorado.

The Coyotes are 1-0 on the year after an impressive start to the Matt Vitzthum (Vitz-thum) era, defeating Central Connecticut State 59-20.

Kickoff from Greeley, Colorado is scheduled for 7:00 PM tomorrow night.

The South Dakota State Jackrabbits look to upset an Division I-FBS opponent tomorrow night, as they take on Northwestern in Evanston, Illinois.

The Jackrabbits could do no wrong in their season opener last week, defeating Stetson 70-7, tying the second-highest scoring mark in total points at the Division I level.

Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 PM Saturday.

The Nebraska Cornhuskers open their 2026 football season tomorrow morning, hosting the Ohio Bobcats at Memorial Stadium.
