Tuesday’s strong storms saw the tornado sirens go off in Yankton County.
Yankton County Emergency Management Director, Paul Scherschligt says it is policy to turn on the sirens anytime there is a tornado warning in the county.
Scherschligt says no tornados touched down in Yankton County Tuesday.
Scherschligt says there were some broken tree branches and hail, but no major damage in Yankton County.
The City of Vermillion is also dealing with the fallout of Tuesday’s storm.
Marty Washington with the City of Vermillion says some trees snapped resulting in building damage in town.
Washington says city crews are working on damage cleanup.
Washington says once crews ensure that city-maintained streets are clear and structures are safe, they’ll begin picking up debris.
Washington says residents can also take debris to the Vermillion landfill on weekdays from 8-4 pm and this Saturday from 8 am until noon.
