Yankton Post 12 ended their legion baseball regular season last night with a dominant sweep of Renner Post 307.
After falling behind early in game one, Yankton stormed back to take a 7-4 win. Simon Kampshoff and Brennen Gilmore led the team with two hits each.
Game two was all Yankton, as Post 12 cruised to a 15-0 win in five innings. Beck Ryken threw a shutout on the mound with three strikeouts. At the plate, the duo of Easton Feser and Sam Gokie went a combined 6-for-7 at the plate with four runs scored and six driven in.
Yankton ends the regular season 15-6 in Class A play. The regular season officially ends on Saturday.
Mount Marty University has announced the hiring of Alicia Lopez as a new Assistant Coach for the Lancers Softball program.
Lopez joins Mount Marty after serving as an assistant softball coach at her alma mater, Tabor College. Before stepping into the coaching ranks, Lopez enjoyed a stellar playing career that saw her capture three All-Conference honors.
In her new role with the Lancers, Lopez will work directly with the infielders, assist with the team’s offensive approach, and heavily impact the program’s recruiting effort, and help lead the junior varsity team.
The Menno Mad Frogs defeated the Lesterville Broncs last night, 15-9 in the final regular season game of the South Central League season for both teams.
Dylan Lehr saw the ball well all night for Menno, ending the game with four hits and three runs scored. Connor Merriam added a pair of home runs.
Tyler Edler impressed at the plate for Lesterville despite the loss, finishing the night 3-for-4 with a home run, a double, and three runs scored
Menno slides into 4th in the SCL standings at 7-7, while Lesterville falls to 6th at 6-8.
The Tabor Bluebirds rode a 15-run fourth inning to a 24-0 win over Irene last night in South Central League Amateur Baseball action.
The Tabor trio of Nolan Carda, Riley Rothschadl, and Landon Bares combined for nine hits, eight RBIs, and twelve runs scored.
Jace Toupal took the win on the mound, as Tabor held Irene to a single hit from Noah Hansen.
Tabor ends the season as the #1 seed in the District 6B Tournament, placing 2nd in the SCL with a 10-4 league record. Irene ends their regular season 1-13 in league play.
The Yankton Lakers and Tabor Bluebirds are both ranked in the penultimate South Dakota Amateur Baseball Polls of the 2026 season.
Yankton ranks 4th in Class A, while Tabor is 7th in Class B. The two teams finished with the two best South Central League records this season.
