Yankton Post 12 were forced to wait an extra day to return from their holiday break, as yesterday’s legion baseball doubleheader against Huron was postponed due to storm damage in the Huron Area.
Yankton will now face Spearfish today in a doubleheader. Today’s games will make it four straight matchups against Spearfish for Yankton, as they swept Post 164 on June 26th, 11-0 and 9-1, before starting their break.
First pitch of game one is scheduled for 5:00 PM this afternoon at Riverside Field. Pregame coverage on KYNT and KYNTV begins at 4:15 with Brayden Butler and Josh Boelter.
With just six legion baseball games remaining in the regular season, Yankton Post 12 ranks 2nd in the latest SD Legion Powerpoints Standings.
Yankton holds an 11-4 record in league play, totaling 42.87 seed points, trailing only Rapid City Post 22 at 42.89.
If the season ended today, Yankton would host Huron in a first-round playoff series, with the winner advancing to the state tournament.

All eight South Central League Amateur Baseball teams are set to take the field on Thursday, in the final quadruple-header of the season.
The league standings are tight heading into the final stretch of the season, with only a single game separating 3rd from 7th.
On Thursday, Wynot will host Crofton, Irene will host Menno, Freeman hosts Lesterville, and Yankton hosts Tabor. All games are scheduled to begin at 7:30 PM.
