Yankton High School has announced the appointment of three new head athletic coaches, ahead of the 2026-27 school year.
Tiffany Beste will take on the role of Head Volleyball Coach. Beste previously led the program from 2013 to 2017, and most recently was an assistant last season.
Kylie Cwach will serve as the new Head Coach for Competitive Cheer. Cwach is a 2021 Yankton High School graduate who just earned her Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from the University of South Dakota this past year.
Cheree Ishmael will be the new Head Coach for Competitive Dance. Ishmael holds over 20 years of experience as a performer, instructor, and choreographer, and has previously served as an assistant coach for both Harrisburg and Yankton.
The Yankton Lakers defeated the Sioux Falls Brewers last night, 3-1, in a South Dakota Amateur Baseball clash at Riverside Field.
The Lakers posted nine hits as a team, led by a 3-for-3 performance from Tristan Fitzsimmons. Cade Sudbeck started on the mound for Yankton, striking out four batters over seven innings. Julian Santoyo was credited with the win, throwing two scoreless innings of relief.
Yankton, the #1-ranked team in the South Central League, now holds a 16-2 overall record, having won their last five games.
Vermillion High School Guard Taylor Reuvers (Rue-vers) will stay home for her basketball career, announcing her commitment to the University of South Dakota yesterday.
Reuvers is going into her junior year at Vermillion High School. As a Sophomore, she was named First-Team All-State, averaging 27.8 points, 6.8 rebounds, and 4.7 assists per game.
Reuvers will be part of the 2028 recruiting class for the Coyotes.
The Yankton Lakers are ranked 4th in Class A in the latest South Dakota Amateur Baseball Polls, with Lesterville and Tabor both receiving votes in Class B.
The Renner Monarchs (Class A) and Dell Rapid PBR (Class B) currently sit atop both polls entering July.
