Yankton Post 12 defeated Rapid City Post 320 last night, 7-1 in a Legion Baseball clash in Rapid City.
Sam Gokie drove the Yankton offense, going 3-for-4 at the plate, scoring two runs, and driving in two more. Beck Ryken earned the win on the mound, throwing a complete game with seven strikeouts.
Yankton is back in action today with a doubleheader against Rapid City Post 22. Game one is scheduled for 4:00 PM Mountain time.
The Yankton Lakers defeated the Crofton Blue Jays in South Central League play last night, 9-2 at Riverside Field.
Yankton recorded 14 hits as a team, led by a 3-for-4 performance from Rugby Ryken that saw him cross home plate four times. Evan Steiner took the win on the mound for Yankton, striking out eight batters over seven innings.
Andy Knapp led Crofton, tallying three of the Blue Jays’ nine hits as a team in the loss. James Kaiser and Seth Wiebelhaus added a pair of hits as well.
Yankton improves to 10-0 in league play, while Crofton falls to 3-6. Yankton is back in action tonight, as they travel to Wynot to take on the Expos. Crofton’s next league game is scheduled for Sunday, as they host Menno.
The South Central Amateur Baseball League will have a trio of games tonight, with six of the league’s eight teams in action.
The Irene Cardinals host the Lesterville Broncs, the Menno Mad Frogs travel to Tabor to face the Bluebirds, and the Yankton Lakers have their second game in less than a day, taking on the Wynot Expos in Wynot.
All games are scheduled to begin at 7:30 PM this evening.
The 2026 South Dakota Golf Association Junior Championships ended yesterday, with the boys’ title decided on a ten-hole playoff.
Asher Dannenbring of Mitchell and Rylan Moran of Vermillion battled throughout the playoff, with Dannenbring earning the championship. The two golfers finished the tournament part of a three-way tie at 219. Carter Peterson of Sioux Falls was eliminated from the playoff after the opening hole.
Olivia Braun of Aberdeen claimed this year’s girls’ championship. She shot a 5-over 221 for the tournament, capped off by a 2-under 70 in the final round. Braun was the only golfer in the girls’ tournament to finish a round under par over the course of the three-day tournament.
