Yankton Post 12 went 1-1 yesterday over their two legion baseball matchups with Sioux Falls Post 15 East and West.
Yankton opened the day with a 14-0 win over Sioux Falls Post 15 East in five innings.
Beck Ryken threw a complete game shutout on the mound, striking out six while allowing one hit and one walk. Carter Boomsma and Tate Beste led Yankton at the plate. Both finished 2-for-2, combining for 4 runs scored and 7 RBIs.
An 8-run 5th inning propelled Sioux Falls West to a 9-5 win over Yankton in game two. Easton Feser and Sam Gokie combined for 6 hits in the loss.
Yankton travels to Brookings tomorrow for a doubleheader against the Brookings Post 74 Bandits. Game one is scheduled for 5:00 PM.
The South Central Amateur Baseball League returns to action tomorrow night with a trio of games.
Tabor will host Lesterville to open this week’s Czech Days festivities. Tabor is tied for 3rd in the SCL at 4-3, with Lesterville 2nd at 5-2.
Irene will travel to Freeman with the Cardinals, looking for their first league victory of the season. A win for Freeman would move them to .500 in the SCL.
Menno will host Wynot as the Mad Frogs look to extend their hot streak after scoring 27 runs over their last two games.
Yankton and Crofton are both off for league play tomorrow, with both teams scheduled to return to action on Sunday. Tonight’s games are scheduled for 7:30 PM.
The Yankton Lakers are ranked 4th in the latest Class A Amateur Baseball poll, released Tuesday evening.
Yankton is currently the #1 team in the South Central League with a perfect 8-0 record. Adding non-league matchups, the Lakers hold an 11-1 overall record.
Also represented from the South Central League are the Menno Mad Frogs, who are receiving votes in Class B.

Eight athletes from the South Dakota State wrestling and men’s and women’s golf teams were honored Tuesday on the 2025-26 College Sports Communicators Academic All-District® At Large Teams.
Honored for SDSU were Brock Fertig, Brady Roark, and Cael Swensen for wrestling, Ty Adkins, Jake Olson, and Drew Teeter for men’s golf, and Hannah Boraas and McKenzie Mages for women’s golf.
To be nominated for Academic All-District® honors, student-athletes must be at least a sophomore in athletic and academic standing and carry at least a 3.50 grade-point average.
