Yankton Track and Field placed 13th in both the girls’ and boys’ team competition at this past weekend’s Class AA State Championships in Sioux Falls.

The Bucks tallied 13 points as a unit. William Rounds had the top individual finish, taking 4th in the boys’ pole vault, while Miles Drotzmann added a 5th-place finish in the 110-meter hurdles. The quartet of Tegan LaCroix, Abe O’Brien, Owen Eidsness, and Jack Brandt added a 5th place finish in the 4 by 400-meter relay.

The Gazelles finished with 20 team points. Quinn Brinkman led the way, taking 2nd in the high jump and 3rd in the triple jump. Burkley Olson also claimed a pair of podium finishes, placing 7th in the long jump and placing 5th in the 4 by 100-meter alongside Rylie Moser, Charleigh Madsen, and Raina Gutierrez.

Overall team championships went to Rapid City Stevens on the girls’ side with 111 points, and Sioux Falls Lincoln for the boys’ side with 178 points.

Yankton Post 12 Legion Baseball is in action tonight, hosting Brandon Valley Post 131 at Riverside Field.

Both Yankton and Brandon Valley are coming off successful high school seasons, as Yankton made a State Semifinals appearance, while Brandon Valley claimed a State Championship with a 4-3 win over Watertown.

First pitch of game one is scheduled for 5:00 PM this evening, with game two to follow. Pregame coverage on KYNT and KYNTV begins at 4:15 with Brayden Butler and Josh Boelter on the call.

The Yankton Gazelles travel to Watertown today for the opening round of the Class AA Girls’ Golf State Tournament.

The Gazelles enter this year’s competition as the #6 seed, coming off an 8th-place state finish in 2025.

Action begins at 8:20 AM this morning at Cattail Golf Course in Watertown. Yankton’s first golfers are scheduled to hit the course at 9:20.
