The Yankton Bucks sit 7th in the team standings after day one of the Class AA Boys Tennis State Tournament in Rapid City.
Yankton scored 176 points on day one. They sit 3 points behind 6th-place Rapid City Stevens and 3.5 points behind 5th-place Mitchell. Results for each Yankton athlete are available below.
Singles Results (By Flight):
- Harrison Krajewski is in the 5th-place semifinals at flight one after going 1-1.
- Luke Moeller is in the consolation semifinals after losing his opening match in flight two.
- Chris Rockne is in the 5th-place semifinals at flight three after going 1-1.
- Ethan Marsh is in the 5th-place semifinals at flight four after going 1-1.
- Jack Pedersen is in the 5th-place semifinals at flight five after going 1-1.
- Zane Becker is in the 5th-place semifinals at flight six after going 1-1.
Doubles Results (By Flight):
- Krajewski and Moeller will compete against Brandon Valley for 5th place today after going 2-1 at flight one.
- Rockne and Marsh advanced to the championship semifinals before falling to #1 Harrisburg at flight two. They will face Sioux Falls Lincoln today for 3rd.
- Pedersen and Becker advanced to the championship semifinals before falling to #1 O’Gorman at flight three. They will face Mitchell today for 3rd.
The 2026 AA State Tournament concludes today in Rapid City, with matches beginning at 8:00 AM.
Yankton Bucks Baseball starts their quest for a state championship this afternoon, taking on Rapid City Stevens in the opening round of the Class A state tournament in Sioux Falls.
Yankton enters the state tournament with a 20-4 overall record following their series sweep over Sturgis last weekend.
First pitch between the Bucks and #5 Rapid City Stevens is currently scheduled for 2:30 PM. Game times are subject to change due to forecasted weather in the area.
Yankton Gazelles Softball wrapped up their regular season yesterday morning with a 6-5 win in extra innings over Tea Area.
September Rauch posted two hits and two RBIs for the Gazelles. Eliza Gurney added a pair of runs on two hits as well. Brenna Elwood picked up the win in the circle.
Yankton finishes the regular season at 9-11. As it stands, they are 10th in the Class AA standings. The Class AA regular season concludes today, with the SoDak 16 scheduled for next Tuesday.
Yankton Gazelles Golf placed 5th out of 14 teams yesterday at the Bill Scholten Invite in Brookings.
Yankton placed two golfers in the top-10. Ellia Homstad placed 8th at 80, while Sabrina Krajewski shot an 82 to tie for 10th.
Rounding out Yankton’s scoring. Harper Anderson shot a 91, and Bailey Anderson shot 92. Also competing for Yankton, Olivia Woods shot 93, and Josslyn Elwood shot 109.
Following the cancellation of an invite in Brandon that was scheduled for today, the Gazelles now look forward to the ESD Conference Meet on Tuesday at Moccasin Creek Country Club in Aberdeen.
Yankton Track and Field picked up a pair of event victories last night at the Howard Wood Last Chance Meet in Sioux Falls.
Quinn Brinkman cleared 5-7 in the girls’ high jump to take first in the event, while Juliet Remington captured the top spot in the girls’ triple jump with a mark of 36-4.
Elsewhere for Yankton, Maddie Tereshinski was 3rd in the girls’ shot put, Brinkman also took 3rd in the girls’ long jump, and William Rounds was 2nd in the boys’ pole vault at 13-6.
Yankton now turns their attention to the state tournament in Sioux Falls May 28th through 30th. Qualifiers and entries are yet to be announced.
Mount Marty’s Samuel Favaretto, Jet Janvrin, Zavio Pratto, and Bastien Furstoss placed 11th in the prelims of the men’s 1600-meter relay yesterday at the NAIA National Championships.
The Lancer quartet finished with a season-best time of 3:12.95. MMU’s Logan Ferrari and Joseph Cross were scheduled to compete in the men’s 10,000, but neither started the race.
Despite missing the finals, Favaretto, Janvrin, Pratto, and Furstoss add to a pair of top-20 performances by Lancer athletes, joining Mya Zohner, 7th in the women’s pole vault, and Kellan Odell, 20th in the men’s javelin.
