Mount Marty pole vaulter Mya Zohner earned All-American honors yesterday, placing 7th in the women’s pole vault at the NAIA Outdoor National Championships.
Zohner cleared 12-4 ¾ to take 7th place. Lancer Freshman Kellan Odell was also in action, placing 20th in the men’s javelin.
The NAIA Outdoor championships continue today in Asheville, North Carolina.
Five Yankton athletes officially signed on to continue their academic and athletic careers at the collegiate level on Wednesday during a signing event at Yankton High School.
Liam Villinueva will stay in Yankton, signing with Mount Marty for football. Beck Ryken and Easton Feser will remain teammates on the diamond, with both signing with Dakota State in Madison for baseball, and twin sisters Cadence (Cheer) and Camryn (Dance) Larsen committed to Augustana in Sioux Falls.
Yankton Gazelles Softball fell to Harrisburg yesterday afternoon, 12-2, at Sertoma Park in Yankton.
Kalli Koletzky and Jocelyn Behrns each scored for the Gazelles, both driven in by Brooklyn King.
The Gazelles wrap up their regular season today on the road against Tea Area. First pitch is scheduled for 9:30 AM.
Today’s game has been rescheduled twice, moving from Monday, May 18th, to Friday, and now to today due to forecasted weather.
The Class A High School Baseball State Tournament begins tomorrow in Sioux Falls, and the Yankton Bucks enter as the #4 seed.
Yankton enters the state tournament with a 20-4 overall record following their series sweep over Sturgis last weekend.
The Bucks are firing on all cylinders at the moment. Having won their last eight games, outscoring their opponents 76-17.
First pitch between the Bucks and #5 Rapid City Stevens is scheduled for 2:30 PM. Pregame coverage on KYNT is scheduled for 2:00.
The 2026 Class AA Boys Tennis State Tournament begins today, with this year’s event being held in Rapid City.
Entering this year’s tournament, all Yankton athletes are seeded mid-pack of their respective flights, ranging from 5th to 8th out of 14.
- Harrison Krajewski (18-6) is the 6th seed at flight one singles.
- Luke Moeller (11-9) is the 8th seed at flight two singles.
- Chris Rockne (14-10) is the 7th seed at flight three singles.
- Ethan Marsh (12-8) is the 6th seed at flight four singles.
- Jack Pedersen (14-8) is the 7th seed at flight five singles.
- Zane Becker (15-7) is the 6th seed at flight six singles.
- Krajewski and Moeller (10-7) are the 7th seed at flight one doubles.
- Marsh and Rockne (14-6) are the 5th seed at flight two doubles.
- Pedersen and Becker (8-5) are the 5th seed at flight three doubles.
Matches are scheduled to be held between two locations, Sioux Park and Parkview, in Rapid City. Today’s matches begin at 8:00 AM.
Yankton Track and Field will travel to Sioux Falls today for a last chance meet at Howard Wood Field. Events begin with the javelin at 2:30 PM.
Yankton Gazelles Golf will compete in Brookings this morning at Brookings Country Club. Tee time is scheduled for 10:00 AM.
