The Mount Marty Lancers enter the GPAC Baseball Tournament as the #7 seed following their weekend series against Dakota Wesleyan.
The Lancers went 2-2 against the Tigers, winning both games on Friday and dropping both games on Saturday.
Entering the postseason, the Lancers are 19-29 overall with a 10-18 conference record.
MMU will play in the Concordia pod of the tournament in Seward, Nebraska. Their first game will be Wednesday at 6:00 PM against #2 Concordia.
Mount Marty Softball had their season come to an end last Friday with a pair of losses to the Hastings Broncos.
Game one ended 5-2 in favor of Hastings. Six different Lancers recorded a hit in the loss.
Game two saw a 10-8 final scoreline for Hastings. Brigid McGill and Jayden Simpkins combined for 5 hits and 4 RBIs for the Lancers.
Mount Marty ends the season with a 14-28 overall record, including a 5-17 mark in GPAC play.
Yankton Gazelles Softball fell to Sioux Falls Lincoln on Friday, 16-5 in their Class AA matchup at Sertoma Park.
Jocelyn Berhns led the Yankton bats, going 2 for 3 at the plate while drawing a walk in the loss. Brooklyn King added a pair of singles as well.
The Gazelles return to action on Tuesday, hosting the Mitchell Kernels at Sertoma Park in Yankton.
Mount Marty Women’s Golf opens GPAC Tournament play today at Dakota Dunes Country Club in Dakota Dunes.
Changes were made last week to the format for the two-day event. The 54-hole competition will be broken evenly into 27 holes of golf each day.
Tee time for day one is scheduled for 8:30 AM this morning.
Bucks Baseball, Bucks Tennis, Gazelles Golf, and Yankton Track and Field will all return to action tomorrow after being off this weekend for prom.
Bucks Tennis will travel to Vermillion to take on the Tanagers and Lennox in a triangular at the USD Tennis Courts.
Gazelles Golf will travel to the state capital for an invitational at Pierre Hillsview Golf Course, beginning at 10:00 AM.
Yankton Track and Field will compete in a varsity meet at Brandon Valley High School. Field events begin at 3:30, with running events scheduled for 4:00.
Bucks Baseball will host Sioux Falls Washington for a doubleheader. Game one at 5:00 PM with game two to follow. Pregame coverage on KYNT and KYNTV begins at 4:15 PM.
The 2026 River Rat Run broke another record this year with nearly 500 registered participants.
Ethan Fritzinger won the River Rat Half-Marathon in a blazing 1:11:22. The top women’s finisher in the Half was Cait Pilkington in a time of 1:20. Alex Hohenthaner (hoh-in tanner) of Yankton won the 5-K in 17:43, with Dawn Lauer of Hartington coming in at the top of the women’s division in 22:12.
The 10-K was won by Tyler Boltjes of Beresford in 36:22, with Kylee Pachta the top 10-K women’s finisher at 45:35. Despite rains that peppered the course, this year’s River Rat saw over 85 percent of registered runners compete.
In addition to the overall winners, first and second-place medals were handed out in seven age classes per event.
