Yankton Bucks Baseball is 2-0 to start their season following Saturday’s sweep of the Pierre Governors.
The Bucks claimed game one 5-4. Carter Boomsma and Sam Gokie both finished 2 for 3 at the plate, with Boomsma driving in a pair of runs.
The Bucks would end the evening with a 3-2 comeback after trailing for most of the game. Gokie picked up the win on the mound, pitching 4 shutout innings of relief.
The Bucks are back in action on Thursday, as they host Spearfish in a doubleheader at Riverside Field.
The Mount Marty Lancers split their GPAC Baseball doubleheader with Dordt on Saturday in Sioux Center, Iowa.
The Lancers dropped game one 9-8. Tyler Vance drove in three runs and drew a pair of walks in the loss.
Game two saw MMU win a shootout 17-14. Vance starred again, finishing 3 for 5 with 3 runs and 5 RBIs. Ethan Synovec added 4 runs and 4 RBIs on 4 hits.
The Lancers are back home tomorrow afternoon for a non-conference matchup with Mayville State University. First pitch of game one is set for 3:00 PM. Pregame coverage on KYNT and KYNTV begins at 2:30.
Mount Marty Softball dropped both games in their doubleheader against Northwestern on Saturday in Yankton.
The Lancers fell in game one 16-2 and game two 10-3. MMU is now 11-17 on the year with a 2-6 record in GPAC play.
The Lancers will host Midland on Wednesday in a GPAC doubleheader. Game one is scheduled for 3:00 PM with game two to follow.
Yankton Bucks Tennis is undefeated to start their 2026 season, winning all five duals this past weekend.
The Bucks swept Rapid City Central and Spearfish 9-0, while defeating Rapid City Stevens, Rapid City Christian, and St. Thomas More 7-2.
Yankton will host Bishop Heelan and Vermillion tomorrow in a triangular. Matches begin at 11:00 AM.
Mount Marty athletes claimed two event victories this past weekend at the Wildcat Classic in Wayne, Nebraska.
Mya Zohner led a sweep of the top four spots in the women’s pole vault for MMU. Paige Clausen followed in second, with Whitney Wollberg and Teagan Vining rounding out the top four.
The Lancer men were led by Kellan Odell with a first-place finish in the javelin. Teammate Cooper Grotenhuis made it a 1-2 finish for the Lancers in the event.
Next up for the Lancers in the Concordia Bulldog Invitational and Multi’s, April 2nd and 3rd in Seward, Nebraska.
Yankton Gazelles Softball opens their season this afternoon with an ESD matchup against the Brookings Bobcats.
First pitch from Brooking is scheduled for 4:00 PM.
Mount Marty Men’s Golf is in Sioux City, Iowa, today and tomorrow for match play against Briar Cliff.
Tee time from Green Valley Golf Course in Sioux City is scheduled for 10:00 AM.
The South Dakota Coyotes advanced to the “Fab Four” of the WNIT on Sunday, defeating Montana State 65-56 in the “Great Eight.”
Molly Joyce led the Coyotes on offense with a game-high 31 points, shooting 10/19 from the field.
The Coyotes are the first team to punch their ticket to the Fab Four. The remaining games in the round of 8 will be held today.
