Yankton native Miles Krajewski took 1st place this past weekend at the Spanish Para Badminton International in Vitoria, Spain.
Krajewski defeated Vitor Tavares in the championship match (21-17, 21-15). Krajewski only dropped one game in tournament play.
Krajewski and Tavares would join forces to compete in men’s doubles, placing 2nd in the event.
The Mount Marty Lancers take on the Buena Vista Beavers this afternoon in a non-conference softball doubleheader.
The Lancers are currently 8-14 on the year with a 1-3 GPAC record. BVU, who competes in the American Rivers Conference at the NCAA Division III level, is 5-13 on the year, having won 3 straight games.
First pitch of game one from Storm Lake, Iowa, is scheduled for 3:00 PM, with game two to follow.
Yankton High School is hosting a spring sports kickoff on tonight in the YHS Commons.
Coaches of all YHS spring sports are expected to speak at the event, beginning at 5:30 PM. The public is invited to attend.
University of South Dakota Pole Vaulter Marleen Mülla has been named the Summit League Women’s Field Athlete of the Year.
Mülla, a senior from Estonia, ended her collegiate indoor career with a runner-up finish at the NCAA Championships, earning her fourth All-American honor. She placed in the top two of every event she competed in this season.
Mülla also competed in the Athletics World Indoor Championships this weekend in Poland, placing 13th.
Former Coyotes Chris Nilsen and Sara Reifenrath also competed. Reifenrath was part of the USA’s 5th place 4×400 mixed relay team, and Nilsen tied for 9th in the men’s pole vault.
The WNBA has announced that it will host its first-ever exhibition in South Dakota on April 25th at the Sanford Pentagon.
The game will be held between the Phoenix Mercury and the Chicago Sky. Mercury head coach Nate Tibbetts has ties to the area as a Sioux Falls native and is a former South Dakota Coyotes men’s basketball athlete.
As part of the trip to bring Mercury basketball to Sioux Falls, the team will host a youth basketball clinic for girls in grades 3rd through 8th at the Sanford Pentagon on Friday, April 24.
South Dakota Coyotes head football coach Matt Vitzhum has announced the addition of Byron Robinson Jr as the new cornerbacks coach in Vermillion.
Robinson joins USD after spending last season with former SDSU head coach Jimmy Rogers at Washington State as a defensive back and special teams analyst.
Robinson has also served as a graduate assistant at the NCAA D1 level with Tulsa (2022-23) and Oklahoma State (2025).
