Two of District 18’s politicians at the state level voted no on the budget during this year’s legislative session.
Senator Lauren Nelson says she had a difficult time approving a budget with increased spending in Pierre while people are struggling.
Representative Julie Auch says she voted no because she believes they need to increase spending on like the big three instead of spending on state government.
Lawmakers did approve a $7.5 billion budget, which was up about $172 million, or 2.4% from the budget last year.
