Yankton Track and Field claimed four event victories in their first competition of the season yesterday at the Ruth Donahoe First Dakota Fieldhouse.
Quinn Brinkman claimed a pair of wins for the Gazelles, taking first in the long jump at 17-2 ¼, and setting a new facility record for high school competition, clearing 5-5 ½ in the high jump.
Cale Haselhorst led the Bucks with a new high school facility record in the 60-meter hurdles, winning in 8.33 seconds. Owen Eidnsess captured the top spot in the boys’ 400 with a time of 53.69 seconds.
Also finishing highly for Yankton, Luke Feimer was 2nd in the boys’ 1600 and 3rd in the 800, William Rounds was 3rd in the boys’ pole vault, Rozlyn Adamson was 2nd in both the girls’ 60 and 200, and Ava Hinnerichs took 3rd in the girls’ long jump.
The Bucks and Gazelles are back in action on March 27th. The meet will once again be held at the Ruth Donahoe First Dakota Fieldhouse.
The Mount Marty Softball doubleheader against the College of Saint Mary that was scheduled for today has been postponed due to inclement weather.
No makeup date has been set at this time, with the Lancers now turning their attention to a matchup with Dordt on Saturday to open GPAC play.
Mount Marty Baseball has adjusted their weekend schedule due to forecasted weather.
The Lancers will now host Waldorf on Friday instead of Sunday in a doubleheader. First pitch of game one is scheduled for 2:00 PM.
The Lancers’ scheduled doubleheader with Briar Cliff on Saturday has also been adjusted, with game one now beginning at noon in Sioux City.
The Mount Marty Lancers are 9th out of 19 teams after the opening day of the Doane Men’s Golf Invite.
The Lancers shot +24 in round one. Guus Van Loon leads MMU individually, as he finds himself 18th after shooting a +3 75 in the opening round.
The tournament concludes today at Mahoney Golf Course in Lincoln, NE.
The South Dakota High School Boys Basketball State Tournament for Classes AA, A, and B begins tomorrow.
This year, both the AA and A tournaments will be hosted in Rapid City at the Monument, with games being held in the main arena and the ice arena.
The Class B tournament will be held in Aberdeen at the Barnett Center, on the campus of Northern State University.
