The South Dakota Department of Transportation began a traffic light and lane improvement project on Broadway last week.
City of Yankton Public Works Director, Adam Haberman, says this will result in lane closures and possible traffic congestion while construction is ongoing.
The SD DOT said when work began that temporary traffic signals and lane closures will be used to maintain traffic through the work area.
Motrorists are being asked to be alert through the work zone for longer queues of traffic, construction vehicles entering and exiting the work zones, and for workers adjacent to moving traffic.
Work is expected to be completed in late June.
