Several Yankton High School students in AP Government got the opportunity to experience the South Dakota legislative session up in Pierre on Monday as part of Stand with Public Education Day.
Two members of the Yankton School Board, Sarah Brandt and Justin Frick, tagged along on the trip to the state capitol.
Frick says they had the chance to spend time on the house and senate floors.
Brandt says it was an amazing learning experience for the students to see how state government operates.
Brandt says the students will be participating in a mock version of the legislative session in class this semester.
