After deliberation from the jury, Andrew Jondahl has been found guilty on two charges of Aggravated Assault Against Law Enforcement, along with other charges, but was found not guilty of possessing a loaded firearm while intoxicated.
The charges stem from an incident in December of 2024 where Jondahl was in Yankton for a high school wrestling meet when law enforcement was called to the high school.
Officers identified that Jondahl had two weapons on his person and the situation escalated to the point where two of the officers on the scene fired shots and struck Jondahl multiple times.
The verdict comes after a lengthy trial that began on Monday.
The jury entered deliberations around noon on Thursday and reached a verdict at approximately 1:48 pm on Friday.
The state did request that Jondahl be taken into custody, but Judge Cheryle Gering determined that Jondahl be released on bond, citing his cooperation with the court during the pre-trial and trial.
Jondahl will next appear in court in Yankton County on February 18th at 10 am.
