Mount Marty Men’s Basketball picked up their 7th GPAC win of the season on Saturday, defeating Briar Cliff 74-66.
Deegan Williams led the Lancers, recording 16 points, 4 assists, and 3 steals. Sutton Arend added 16 points as well.
The Lancers take on Doane on Wednesday in Crete, Nebraska.

Kaela Martinez led in scoring with 15 points for MMU, followed by 11 from Alexis Folkers. Lacey Sprakel finished just shy of a double-double with 10 points and 9 rebounds.

The Yankton Bucks lost to the Watertown Arrows in Class AA Boys Basketball action last Friday, 59-51.
Jackson Kudera posted a game-high 22 points for the Bucks. Owen Eidsness added 10 points and 5 steals.

Yankton Gazelles Basketball earned their 2nd win of the year on Friday, defeating Watertown 59-46.
Eden Wolfgram stuffed the stat sheet for Yankton, ending the night with 27 points, 10 rebounds, 3 assists, and 4 steals. Jordyn Kudera added 13 points in her first start of the season.
The Gazelles travel to Sioux Falls tomorrow night to take on the Jefferson Cavaliers. Pregame coverage on KYNT and KYNTV begins at 6:30 with Brayden Butler on the call.
The Mount Marty Lancers claimed six event victories over the weekend at their home indoor track and field event.
The Lancer women would claim the top two spots in the pole vault, as Paige Clausen and Mya Zohner finished 1-2. Zelie Sorensen took the win in the 200 in 25.64 seconds.
The Lancer men were led by distance runners Logan Ferrari (5,000 meters) and Joseph Cross (mile), who placed 1st in their events. Samuel Favaretto and Bastien Furstoss finished 1-2 in the 200, while Osiel Cantu won the 60-meter hurdles.
Next up for MMU is the Polar Dog Invitational on Friday in Seward, Nebraska.
A pair of Yankton High School Athletes were able to take home event victories at this past weekend’s MMU Invitational at the Ruth Donohoe First Dakota Fieldhouse.
Rozlyn Adamson took 1st in both the 60 and 200-meter races in the high school girls division, while Quinn Brinkman took home the high jump title.
Yankton Gazelles Gymnastics placed 7th at last Friday’s Huron Invitational Gymnastics Meet, scoring a 133.55.
Marissa Byrkeland and Avery Portillo led the Gazelles, placing 13th and 15th, respectively, in the all-around competition. Portillo posted the highest score for Yankton on the floor and vault, while Ellie Drotzman led Yankton on beam and bars.
Yankton is back in action tonight, hosting Vermillion in a dual at River City Gymnastics and Cheer, beginning at 5:30 PM.
Yankton Gazelles Wrestling placed 7th out of 27 teams at Friday’s Harrisburg Invitational, led by 145-pound champion Winry Yaggie.
Yaggie picked up 4 pins en route to the championship. Also placing for Yankton, Alexis Brenden took 3rd at 120, and Jaclyn Kyte 5th at 135.
The Gazelles will be back in action on Thursday alongside the Bucks, as they take on Vermillion and Dakota Valley in a triangular at Vermillion High School.
The Yankton Bucks and Gazelles swept Sioux Falls Roosevelt this past week in High School Bowling action.
The Bucks won 40-10 over the Roughriders. Liam Villanueva led the Bucks with a 278 high game and a 683 series.
The Gazelles were dominant in their 47-3 win over Roosevelt. Cadynce Bonzer led Yankton with a 568 series, while Leila Barta posted a high game of 205.
Next up for Yankton is a matchup with Sioux Falls Lincoln at Great Life Suburban Lanes. The Gazelles play on Thursday while the Bucks play on Friday.
The South Dakota Coyotes fell to 2-3 in Summit League Men’s Basketball play on Saturday with a 96-80 loss to North Dakota.
Jordan Crawford (24) and Isaac Bruns (21) led the Coyotes in scoring. Cameron Fens ended the night with 13 points and 14 rebounds for a double-double.
The Coyotes travel to Omaha for their next game, as they take on the Omaha Mavericks on Wednesday.

South Dakota State Men’s Basketball is now 10-10 overall, 3-2 in Summit League play, after Saturday’s 90-62 win over Kansas City.
Joe Sayler went 7/10 from the field to lead SDSU with 22 points. Matthew Mors posted a double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds, adding 4 assists and 2 blocks.
The Jackrabbits take on St. Thomas on Thursday for their next game.
South Dakota State Women’s Basketball suffered their first conference defeat since March 8th of 2022 on Saturday, falling to North Dakota State 76-68.
Brooklyn Meyer led SDSU with 24 points and 6 rebounds. Avery Koenen was the catalyst for the Bison, finishing with 26 points and 13 rebounds.
The loss snaps a 50+ game Summit League winning streak for SDSU, and is their first regular season conference loss to anyone besides the South Dakota Coyotes since Denver in 2020.
