A longtime Yankton business has sold after being family owned for over 80 years.
Conkling Distributing, which was established by John Conkling in 1939, has been sold to Doll Distributing, a distribution company based in Iowa.
Dan Conkling, who is John’s son, and has lead Conkling Distributing for over 40 years, says being involved in the business was something he knew he wanted to do at a young age.
Dan’s son-in-law, Heath Larson, who been with the company since 1998, says Doll Distributing will be downsizing, but will keep the majority of the staff on payroll.
Larson says he expects sales and delivery operations to stay very similar under new ownership.
