South Dakota Governor Larry Rhoden was in Yankton over the weekend as a guest at the NRA Banquet at the NFAA Easton Yankton Archery Center.
Rhoden says that his consistent visits to Yankton for the banquet over the years have led to a friendship with NFAA Easton Yankton Archery Center Director Bruce Cull.
Rhoden, who recently announced his re-election campaign for governor, also spoke about the disappointment South Dakotans have expressed about a recent budget proposal ahead of the 2026 legislative session.
Rhoden went on to say that some members of the legislature were pushing for a 5% cut to ease property taxes in the state, but that would be a dramatic decrease in the funding of education and health care.
