Yankton High School will host their annual Winter Sports Kickoff tonight in the YHS Commons.
YHS coaches Justin Olson (gymnastics), Robert Coyle (boys’ wrestling), Jason Yaggie (girls’ wrestling), Courtney Russenberger (winter sideline cheer), Blake Savey (girls’ basketball), and Chris Haynes (boys’ basketball) will all speak at the event, as well as athletic trainers Trevor Woods and Julie Brennan.
The program is scheduled to begin at 6:00 PM. The public is invited to attend.
Mount Marty Men’s Basketball had two games postponed this weekend due to inclement weather.
No makeup date has been set for the Lancers’ games against Saint Ambrose and Grand View at this time.
Mount Marty returns to action tomorrow night against Wichita State in an exhibition game. Tip-off from Wichita, Kansas, is set for 6:00 PM.
Yankton Bucks Hockey split their pair of games this weekend against Mitchell and Rushmore (Rapid City).
The Bucks defeated Mitchell 9-2 on Saturday. Yankton trailed 2-1 after the first but scored 8 straight goals to win. Jace Sedlacek recorded a hat trick with 3 goals.
Yankton would fall to Rushmore yesterday, 8-1. The Bucks were outshot 52-16 in the loss. Kylen O’Conner scored the lone goal for Yankton, assisted by Tucker Renken.
The Bucks host Rushmore again in their next game on Friday, December 5th. Puck drop is scheduled for 8:00 PM.
The South Dakota Coyotes moved on to the second round of the FCS Playoffs on Saturday with a 38-17 win over Drake.
Wide Receiver Larenzo Fenner led the way with 115 yards and 3 touchdowns for the Coyotes.
The Coyotes travel to Macon, Georgia, on Saturday for their second-round matchup against Mercer. Kickoff is set for 11:00 AM.
The South Dakota State Jackrabbits defeated New Hampshire on Saturday, 41-3, to advance to the second round of the FCS Playoffs.
Quarterback Chase Mason returned from injury and threw for 230 yards and 3 touchdowns, completing 16 of his 20 passes.
The Jackrabbits travel to Missoula, Montana, for their second-round matchup with the Montana Grizzlies. Kickoff is scheduled for 1:00 PM Central on Saturday.
South Dakota Coyotes Men’s Basketball picked up their 5th win in their last 6 games on Saturday, defeating Air Force 80-63 in Rapid City.
Isaac Bruns led USD with a game-high 24 points. Cameron Fens and Jesse McIntosh followed with 11 points each.
The Coyotes are back home on Wednesday for their first game of the Big Sky-Summit Challenge agaistn Portland State.
South Dakota Coyotes Women’s Basketball suffered their first loss of the season on Saturday, 66-59 at the hands of Wyoming.
Angelina Robles powered the Coyotes with 20 points and 14 rebounds. Molly Joyce added a spark with 17 points off the bench.
The now 7-1 Coyotes travel to Portland, Oregon, for their next game on Wednesday against Portland State.
South Dakota State Women’s Basketball ended their three-game stretch in Cancun with an 82-70 win over Kansas State on Saturday.
Brooklyn Meyer recorded 18 points, 8 rebounds, 6 assists, and 2 blocks in the win, leading SDSU in all categories.
The Jackrabbits return home on Wednesday for their first game of the Big Sky-Summit Challenge against Weber State.
